Acceptance and eligibility

By using HomeCostGrid, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be legally able to enter into these terms. A person submitting business or sponsored content represents that they are at least 18 and authorized to act for the named business.

Planning information—not professional advice

HomeCostGrid provides general educational estimates, comparisons and editorial starting points. Content is not a contractor bid, appraisal, inspection, engineering design, legal, tax, investment, insurance, lending, medical or other professional advice. No estimate guarantees a price, approval, savings amount, incentive, mortgage rate, insurance premium, investment result or property outcome.

Verify the exact address, scope, equipment, permits, taxes, utility rules, financing, insurance, eligibility, availability, warranties and contract terms with qualified professionals and official sources before making a decision.

Accuracy, updates and availability

Costs, rates, programs, rankings, product details, business listings, vehicle data, news and external links can change without notice. We work to make content useful and identify important sources and assumptions, but do not warrant that every item is complete, current or error-free. We may change, suspend or remove any part of the service and may correct content without prior notice.

Calculators and automated recommendations

Calculator outputs and automated recommendations depend on your inputs, modeled assumptions and available regional data. They are ranges for early planning, not personalized professional determinations. You remain responsible for checking the result against written quotes, current official data and your own circumstances. Local professionals, dealers and map data

Google Places results, ratings and review counts are informational starting points. Their order is not a paid ranking, endorsement, licensing decision or guarantee that a business is insured, available, suitable or fairly priced. Verify identity, licenses, insurance, recent reviews, references, written scope, total price and dispute terms before hiring or buying.

Use of Google Maps content is also subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms and Google Terms of Service. Interactions with Apple Maps, retailers, contractors, dealers and other third parties are between you and that provider.

Business-directory submissions

You may submit a business only if authorized to represent it. Submitted information must be accurate, lawful, current and non-misleading. Submission does not guarantee approval, ranking, publication duration, endorsement, exclusivity or customer leads. HomeCostGrid may verify, edit for clarity, reject, archive, suspend or remove a listing. The business remains responsible for licenses, pricing, inventory, financing, warranties, advertising claims and customer service.

User and partner submissions

You retain ownership of material you submit. You grant HomeCostGrid a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, review, format, reproduce and display material you ask us to publish, and to use submitted business names and logos solely in connection with that listing or article. You represent that you have the necessary rights and that the submission does not infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights.

Do not submit confidential information, unlawful material, malware, deceptive claims, fake reviews, undisclosed paid endorsements, scraped content or personal information you are not authorized to share.

Real project cost reports

A real-cost evidence passport must truthfully identify whether it describes a completed project or a quote-only record. Do not include names, full ZIP codes, exact street addresses, account numbers, contractor-confidential material or someone else's personal information. You grant HomeCostGrid permission to store, review, normalize and combine eligible submitted facts into anonymous aggregates, historical indexes and cost models.

Submission does not guarantee publication or acceptance. We may reject duplicates, implausible figures, incomplete scope, unsafe notes or promotional material; assign a verification and quality level; and correct obvious formatting without changing the reported economics. Quote-only and legacy-unclassified records do not enter completed-cost distributions. P25, median and P75 distributions require at least 12 eligible completed-final reports and remain planning evidence—not a promise that another project will cost the same.

Sponsored content and payment

Sponsored articles and press releases are reviewed before payment. Approval creates an opportunity to pay the quoted amount; it does not transfer editorial control or guarantee permanent publication, traffic, ranking, leads or search placement. Publication occurs only after the approved amount is confirmed as paid. Sponsored material is labeled, may include `sponsored` or `nofollow` link attributes and must comply with advertising law and platform rules.

HomeCostGrid may request substantiation, edit headlines or disclosures, reject prohibited claims and remove paid content that later proves unlawful, deceptive, infringing or materially inconsistent with the approved submission. Refunds, chargebacks and reversals may take the content offline. Any written order-specific refund term presented before payment controls that transaction.

Advertising, affiliate and referral relationships

HomeCostGrid may earn money from display advertising, sponsored content, qualifying purchases made through affiliate links and some paid professional referrals. A paid-referral link opens the participating professional's public HTTPS destination directly. HomeCostGrid does not attach your calculator inputs or personal information to that link. The destination provider's terms and privacy policy apply.

Compensation never changes a calculator estimate, confidence or evidence gap, and it cannot purchase a higher position in the neutral alphabetical offer order. A referral listing is not an endorsement, provider-quality review or guarantee of licensing, insurance, availability, price, suitability or response.

A professional introduction requires your explicit consent. HomeCostGrid reviews the request first and, if it proceeds, may manually share only the name, email, optional phone, optional state and coarse service entered in the form with at most one participating professional. There is no automatic provider handoff, and no address, city, ZIP, budget, estimate, confidence score, documents, quote totals, notes, proposal text or other calculator input is included.

Any quote, contract, work, payment or dispute is between you and the professional; HomeCostGrid is not a party to that transaction. Material commercial relationships are disclosed on the relevant page or through the site-wide Affiliate Disclosure. Retailer and provider prices, terms, availability, warranties and return or refund terms are controlled by that third party.

Intellectual property

Except for third-party names, marks, data and user submissions, HomeCostGrid's original text, selection, organization, design, graphics and software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial planning. You may link to public pages and quote short portions with attribution. Republishing substantial content, copying databases, removing notices or using HomeCostGrid branding to imply affiliation requires written permission.

Dataset license

HomeCostGrid's public datasets and downloads may be used for personal, non-commercial research and planning with clear attribution to HomeCostGrid and a link to the dataset page. This permission does not include republishing a substantial part of a dataset, reselling or sublicensing the data, using it to populate a competing database, removing source or methodology notices, or presenting modeled values as contractor quotes, official records or verified outcomes. Third-party source data remains subject to its original provider's terms. For commercial, bulk or republication rights, submit a request through the contact form.

Prohibited use

You may not interfere with site operation; bypass access or rate limits; probe security; introduce malicious code; scrape at a volume that burdens the service; impersonate another person or business; submit false listings; harvest contact details; use content to train or populate a competing database without permission; or use estimates as if they were certified bids or professional reports.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeCostGrid is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, a particular result, or the conduct, quality or availability of any third party.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeCostGrid and its operators, contributors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, property damage or losses arising from reliance on estimates, content, advertisements, listings, purchases or third-party services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid HomeCostGrid for the specific service giving rise to the claim during the previous twelve months or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits apply only to the extent permitted.

Indemnity

If you submit business, advertising or sponsored material, you agree to defend and indemnify HomeCostGrid against third-party claims and reasonable costs arising from that material, your lack of authority, your violation of these terms or your infringement of another person's rights, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes, severability and enforcement

We may update these terms for service, legal or operational changes. The date above identifies the current version. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Rights that by their nature should survive—including intellectual-property, payment, disclaimer, liability and indemnity terms—survive termination.
