A lower outlay does not mean better coverage. A plan would still need to approve and pay at least that much in otherwise out-of-pocket covered work to recover the entered cost. Keep a separate repair reserve for exclusions, caps and work outside the contract.

When is it charged, and can a second trade or return visit create another fee?
Find limits per item, event and contract term, plus access, disposal and code-upgrade limits.
What records can be required, and how are pre-existing conditions, rust or improper installation handled?
Who selects the technician, what is the response process and can outside work ever be authorized?
Is renewal automatic, can price or terms change, and how are cancellation fees and refunds calculated?
You accept the provider's claims process and contractor rules, have read the exclusions and limits, and can still fund uncovered work.
You already have overlapping coverage, prefer to save the plan cost, or would not tolerate authorization delays and contract limits.
