BMW has finally put a U.S. price and delivery date on the electric SUV it has been teasing. The 2027 iX3 50 xDrive starts at $61,500 before a $1,350 destination charge, with deliveries slated for September 25. The reservation portal wants $1,000 now, so the cancellation and allocation rules deserve attention before the excitement gets the card number.
The tire line is not fine print
BMW’s headline estimate of up to 434 EPA miles is tied to no-cost 20-inch summer tires. The standard 20-inch all-season setup is listed at 383 miles. Drivers in cold or snowy areas should budget around the tire configuration they can safely use, not simply the largest number in the release.
Fast charging looks strong on paper
The 800-volt system supports up to 400 kW charging. BMW estimates a 10% to 80% session in 21 minutes and about 185 miles added in 10 minutes at a capable 800-volt station. Charger availability, temperature and battery condition can change real stops.
What the family budget should include
Beyond the base price, quote insurance, winter or replacement tires, home charging, registration and likely options. The new Panoramic iDrive and driver-assistance features may be appealing, but compare included equipment trim by trim instead of assuming every demonstration feature is standard.
